Raleigh Expungement Lawyer

North Carolina Expungement Attorney

The state of North Carolina allows individuals to expunge, or wipe clean, certain kinds of criminal charges. There are many restrictions about what types of charges can be expunged and which types of charges cannot be expunged. A lawyer can help you learn more about the process. I am Randolph J. Hill, Attorney at Law. Contact me today to discuss whether or not your criminal charge can be expunged from your record.

Working to Expunge Charges for Young People in Wake County and Beyond

I represent many college students and other young people who have charged with alcohol and drug charges. In many cases, I am able to help your expunge their records. In Wake County, if you are charged with most misdemeanors and are under the age of 21, you may have the opportunity to enter a diversion program or probation, depending on the charge. If you successfully complete the diversion or probation, your charges will be dismissed, and you can later expunge the record of the offense. I have successfully guided a number of college students through both the diversion and expungement process.

An expungement offers many real benefits. For instance, if you are asked on a job application whether or not you have been charged or arrested on criminal charges, you can truthfully answer no.

There are certain circumstances in which you will not be able to expunge a record of a criminal charge. For instance, in North Carolina, you can only expunge your records once. In addition, if you have already been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor, or have a pending criminal charge, you will not be eligible for an expungement. Lastly, you will not be able to expunge a criminal conviction, unless the conviction was (1) a misdemeanor, and (2) you were under 18 at the time of the offense.
